The façade of the Shrine is dominated by a huge medallion wherein St. Pedro, as carved by Seferino Zafra, is depicted holding a catechism book and a martyr’s palm branch, being borne by angels to eternal glory.
To the left of the medallion, if one faces the façade, is the coat of arms of the Archdiocese of Cebu where St. Pedro was born; to the right is the coat of arms of the Archdiocese of Agaña (Guam) which was born thanks to the blood of St. Pedro and the first martyrs of the Marianas.
The Holy Cross towers majestically above the pinnacle, towards which the medallion seems to ascend, to announce to everyone that “the way of perfection passes by Way of the Cross.”
