Carved on stone over the frieze of the Chapel are the words of refrain of the Gozos ni Pedro Calungsod, a poetic narrative in Cebuano depicting the travails and joys of Pedro written and set into music by Msgr. Rudolfo Villanueva in March 1999: “Servant of the people and of God honored son of the Visayas, this voice and language hope to be remembered by you. Pedro Calungsod you are now invoked as a townmate here on earth and also in heaven.”
The lyrics run like a band around the frieze of the Chapel as a constant uninterrupted invocation to San Pedro in the Shrine.
