The Statue of San Pedro Calungsod

The statue of San Pedro was made by Vicente Gulane. He is depicted in the statue as wearing a white traditional Spanish-time Filipino vesture and bringing a palm branch after the Biblical description of the martyrs. At the foot of the image is a stone, which is actually a portion of an old rock at Tomhon Beach in Guam, a silent witness to the martyrdom of the teenage missionary catechist from the Visayas.

San Pedro is invoked every day in the Shrine but the special day for the devotion to him is Saturday because of its significance in the life of San Pedro who arrived in Guam on a Saturday (June 16, 1668) and died as a martyr there on Saturday, April 2, 1672.
